2025 is five years since my mother died.

This letter is something I wrote to her when I was just entering adulthood and I felt it appropriate to share it on her birthday which was on the 5th of April.

I miss my mother every day and I wish she were still here with me to see me through some of the life events I've experienced since she died.

I owe my mother a lot.

I never told her when she was here but I hope in this small way, I can honour her.

Send us a text This poem is one of my earlier works in 2020. It was the year my mother died and it speaks about the day we went to pick up her ashes at the funeral home. It was probably one of the hardest days of my life. I remember it clearly, almost as if it happened just yesterday. I hope that if you are someone who lost a loved one and you listen to this piece, that you will remember that loved ones are never really lost when they die. It tells the story of how victims always blame themselves and how the scars linger, years after the ordeal happened. These scars are not always visible but they are there nonetheless.
