Today’s guest is Faneisha “Fo” Alexander. Fo is a Millennial personal finance expert whose story of paying off nearly $78K in debt in less than 3 years took the Internet by storm.

She is the editor and chief of the GirlTalkwithFo blog & podcast- a personal finance platform created to teach women how to dump debt, build bank, and create the life they want. Through her online platforms, she shares daily personal finance tips to help women begin to take control of the finances and, ultimately, their lives.

In this episode of Worth Listening Fo shares with us more about her upbringing and how she came to find herself in over $80k of debt. She also shares some valuable advice on what you need to focus on if you really want to get out of debt (and it’s not what you might think).

In this episode we discuss:

  • The things her parents did when handling their finances that set a good example for Fo when she was married herself
  • What she did to earn money as a child
  • The importance of understanding how you’re going to pay for college
  • How Fo ended up in debt and the mantra she used to motivate herself to dig her way out
  • The importance of being willing to talk to people about your finances
  • The two things you need to do if you to get out of debt

You can learn more about Fo’s book, Dump Debt & Build Bank: The Everyday Chick’s Guide to Money, and see a free preview of it here. And, you can learn more about Fo and the services she offers at her website girltalkwithfo.com or connect with her on social media at the following links:
