Episode 12- Rape and Redemption with Jes Foord
Manage episode 439119305 series 3599102
When Jes was brutally raped in 2008 by four men, she had a decision to make. Excusably, she could become another statistic to a heinous crime (reportedly every 17 seconds someone is raped in South Africa), or she could become a north star, a guiding light of redemption. Not only for those who have shared a similar fate, but for those who are heading down a path the leads to committing such ghastly crimes.
In this hard hitting (and emotional) episode, we discuss Jess' life since that day, what she's learnt about herself as well as the success and dreams of the Jes Foord Foundation.
Practically, we share insights into men's role in society and her passion for JFF's young men's mentorship programme.
This is not an episode you want to miss! If you'd like to get involved with the JFF or contribute in any way, they have the #JFF100club whereby you donate R100 to the Jes Foord Foundation every month.
