The book is also written in the words of a man who turned his naval experience into a hugely successful career in corporate America. Drawing upon the Navy's unparalleled approach to planning, execution, strategy, and leadership, Whiz has created a unique set of tools men and women in any profession can use to drive their careers to new heights. Unlike other military personnel who have tried to tie the military and business worlds together, Whiz has "been there, done that," and has done so with extraordinary success in both arenas. As one of the Street's youngest and hottest executives, he is the authority on the topic of execution and leadership.
During 15 years as a Navy fighter pilot, he enjoyed nothing more than pushing the throttles forward to Max Afterburner with the engines of my F/A-18 Hornet, catapulting off an aircraft carrier (0 to 200 mph in 1.5 seconds) and flying in challenging and hostile environments around the world.
These days – as a CEO, Entrepreneur, Trader, and Leadership Coach – He no longer driving my F/A-18. But gets that same feeling of power and exhilaration when he starts the engines of an under-performing company, rev up the employees and executive team, and watch them blow away the competition.
People often ask me, “how did you catapult from the cockpit of an F/A -18 to the CEO corner office of a $2.5B Wall Street firm?”
Basically I applied everything as a Naval Aviator – at supersonic speeds and combat sorties over Iraq – and as a Naval Officer leading hundreds of sailors and Marines and applied my Top Gun experiences to the challenge of turning around failing or stagnating businesses and starting successful new ones.
I am passionately interested in the art and science of executive leadership, strategic planning and – most important – Execution.
I've also had some exceptionally great business mentors who showed me how companies succeed (and how they fail). And I'm forever grateful to the Navy and my mentors for all of these challenges, opportunities, and rewards.
Specialties: • Leadership Coaching: Exceptionally good at training Fortune 500 CEOs to make great decisions under extreme stress – and to manage and master crises as fast as a fighter pilot.

• Turnarounds: As Management Consultant, quickly analyzed underperforming operations for numerous Fortune 500 clients.
• Transformed the business culture of PEAK6 Investments, and a played key role in its explosive growth.
