Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira has been an incredibly influential film, not only to animation as a medium, but to movies and the sharing of culture as a whole. Even if you are not really an anime fan, we encourage you to give this a try, it will blow your mind. It can get a little convoluted, but let it sit in your psyche for bit, and then revisit.
