Then we join Joaquin Phoenix as he gets all tangled up with The Cause, a made-up religion invented by Philip Seymour Hoffman, in P.T. Anderson’s The Master from 2012. Next, a young girl marries Tom Hiddleston and heads to his haunted mansion where she encounters ghosts, a dubious sibling played by Jessica Chastain, and tons of red clay in Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak from 2015. And last, Anthony Mackie discovers a drug that enables him to travel back in time, but when his friend’s daughter takes the drug and gets stuck in the past, it’s up to him to get her back in Synchronic from 2019.
