I recently listened to the Adam Grant work life podcast. And on his taken for granted series, he welcomed Lin Manuel Miranda and his dad, on to the show. Lin Manuel Miranda is a big deal in the performing arts world. I listen to the podcast twice and I would love for you to go listen and come back and tell me what you love. Today we are going to go over a couple of things that stuck out to me. Listening to Lin's dad, it just it was so clear that he had the desire to understand his son so that he could take care of his child, he could support his child, and help him to see the greatest amount of success possible. And I think that that is an that is unusual, even as parents who love their kids so much, I think that a lot of times, instead of developing a greater understanding for your child, we can default into imposing the things that we find valuable and important onto our child children. Right? But what I heard in this episode was that Lin's father aimed to understand his child, so that he could best support him so that he could watch him blossom into who he authentically was supposed to be not any way of trying to mold him into something other than what he was. And I thought that that was really beautiful. Because as parents, you and I talk all the time about our kids, and what we want for them, and how we want them to be comfortable in this world and confident in this world. Are we doing this? Right? Are we doing right by him? Are we pushing him enough?
