Kina gør det. Storbritannien, Tyskland, Sverige og USA overvejer det ligesom den europæiske centralbank ECB. At indføre en digital valuta. Men Danmark vil ikke.
CBDC - central bank digital currency - er en digital valuta udstedt af en centralbank som en digital version af kontanter. Det er ikke kryptovaluta som bitcoin, men digitale penge som svarer til et indskud i centralbanken.
I Kina har mere end 100.000 mennesker downloadet en app til test af en kommende digital valuta - en e-yuan.
ECB har bekendtgjort, at den i løbet af i år vil tage stilling til lanceringen af et projekt om en digital euro.
