In this episode of Terrifying Tracks we enlist the help of synthesizer collector and expert Ben Shannon to help us deconstruct John Carpenter's seminal score for the 1978 classic slasher film "Halloween". Did John Carpenter own his own synthesizer? Which one did he use? How big and expensive are the things? How did the synthesizer specifically contribute to the music and what other musical elements is Carpenter utilizing to make this a classic horror score!
We also discuss the great chip tune soundtracks of all time, the Japanese "Tin Pan Alley" and why the synthesizer remains a popular choice for contemporary scores.
