Felicia Tomasko is a lifelong student of the arts and sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda. She combines a deep understanding of the intersection of the modern western biomedicine and traditional yogic philosophy. She is a registered nurse who has current clinical experience in mental health and integrative wellness and a 30-year private practice of Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda. Her study includes a number of yogic and Ayurvedic lineages, offering her a broad perspective on the depth of the practice. Her work includes service/seva and giving back in many ways.
In an eclectic career path, Felicia has served as the editor in chief of LA YOGA Magazine sharing stories about yoga, the yoga community and yoga practitioners. She spent 9 years volunteering on the board of directors of the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine and the National Association of Ayurvedic Medicine. Currently, Felicia volunteers on the board of directors of Yoga Gives Back, which unites yoga practitioners around the world to give back to grassroots-based empowerment and educational programs in yoga's birthplace of India.
A longtime educator, Felicia is the advisor for the Yoga Therapy program at Loyola Marymount University where she is also on the teaching staff and she has been a teacher teacher for more than 20 years in programs around the world including for YogaFit. As a teacher, she has led classes on the Santa Monica Pier, taught workshops in a variety of settings, and facilated groups in addiction and recovery, to name just a few.
Currently Felicia works in mental health with adolescents and young adults combining her skills and background as a nurse with her work in yoga therapy and meditation and mindfulness.
Her teaching weaves together humor and insight and her intention is to empower modern students with a practical understanding of how these philosophies can be relevant today. She applies these teachings in her own life for her own health challenges being diagnosed with cancer and going through a year of cancer treatment combining conventional medical treatments with integrative practices and yoga therapy techniques as well as living through the grief of a partner dying from cancer. Felicia believes in the positive power of practice to help build resiliency in all areas of life.
