In the eyes of the majority, Cory Carlson was making it huge and was already a winner in the corporate world before he discovered coaching. But when he did, he became a better person, husband, father, and leader. So to speak, he became a real winner from his own home first. Since then, it became his lifelong cause to make other people make it really big in life by following the same formula -- Win at Home First.
Highlights:

  • Outside perspective -- he couldn't go to his boss and his colleagues to admit his incompetence; he needed the outside perspective to be more open and honest
  • Simplicity -- with the availability of too much overwhelming information out there, the guidance of a coach makes every step clear and simple
  • Biggest Takeaways from coaching-- You're not alone; identify and call out your head trash (negative self-talk) and replace them with the truth; identify priorities in order to excel
  • Work-life balance -- Family first (set expectations and revisit how you executed); but make sure you deliver as expected at work
  • Win at Home First --
  • He strongly believes that at a certain point, home life will sneak up and affect all other aspects of the corporate job

Whether married or not, people have families or buddies in the house or friends in whose relationships they are most invested. In order to help someone live to the fullest, Cory helps his clients navigate life by advancing sense of purpose over performance and ultimately by winning at home first.
