Erica Rooney is a wife, a mom, a chief people officer, and a host of her own podcast From Now to Next, where she empowers women to get seen, get heard, and get promoted. With all these hats she's wearing, one gets the idea that she does a lot of things. Although she admits to being a hustler by nature, her secret to accomplishing more in life is eliminating the less important activities and focusing energy and time on the majors. At 24, she thought she found her dream job at Verizon but at 27, when she realized there was not enough room for growth, she applied for hundreds of jobs. Her passion to help people since her personal training days made her fit in different HR roles which also paved the way for her executive coaching.
Highlights:

  • Burnout - her life was a show for everybody; but her burnout got her into fights with her spouse; she was less present for her kids and was not her best self
  • Sticky floors (limiting beliefs) - most reasons why many people do not live to their most authentic selves include fear of judgment, perfectionism, and impostor syndrome, among others
  • Root cause of our people-pleasing default - social constructs ingrained in our culture because we have grown in a man's world
  • Three-step framework to recovery from perfectionism: name it, question it, shift it
  • Benefits of listening to her podcast - when women hear other successful others with their own struggles; they realize they are not alone

If you want to get seen, get heard, and get promoted, this Suite Whisperer may be the guide you need. If you too desire to know your worth and resolve not to accept anything less; or if you somehow struggle with impostor syndrome, the mommy wine culture, among others, Erica's podcast may help you.
She is big on self-care because it is always correlated with our happiness level. When our cup is filled, we can fill other people's cups. If her message resonates with you, catch her on her podcast From Now to Next as well as on LinkedIn where she is most active and responsive.
