12. Your Birth Rights: Communication and Self-Advocacy During Pregnancy and Childbirth
Manage episode 366585058 series 3464719
Once you check off making your birth plan, you still have to figure out how to advocate for what you want!
Feeling confident and informed enough to communicate your needs to your partner, provider, and healthcare team will determine how you feel about your birth.
I want you to know your birth rights and be in control every step of the way.
And to do that… let’s talk about communication and self-advocacy.
In this episode, I'll talk about:
- My biggest piece of advice to control your birth space…
- Forgetting the BRAIN method of decision making, and adopting the RAINBOW method…
- Two activities to do with your partner to see if you’re on the same page…
- … and tips when navigating different birth scenarios.
I would love to help you navigate decisions, give you resources on how to communicate with your provider about these things ahead of time, and teach you tools to be your best advocate during your hospital birth.
