The Ninth Gate (1999), directed by Roman Polanski, is described as a horror-thriller (despite not being scary nor exciting). It has three spooky tomes though and a great game of spot the difference. Depp stars as the laconic book detective embroiled in the satanic silliness, with Emmanuelle Seigner as the femme fatale.
