The Enneagram is one of the primary tools of my private practice. I've never found another personality typing system that gets to the "motive of our heart" like the Enneagram. It isn't the Bible or even the "gospel of personalities," but it is a useful tool that helps us build stronger relationships. In Part 2, Spiritual Director, Marilyn Vancil, author of "Beyond the Enneagram," shares how the Enneagram guides us home, toward our Authentic Self.
5 themes of this episode:

1. Understanding the Enneagram: The episode focuses on the Enneagram as a system for understanding one's motives and actions. Marilyn Vansel discusses its role in her book and how it can help individuals become healthier and move from an unhealthy to a healthy state.
2. Courage and Inner Strength: Janell emphasizes the need for courage and inner strength on the journey to soul restoration. She references C. S. Lewis and Parker J. Palmer, highlighting the bravery required to face challenges and the transformative power of the Enneagram.
3. Secure Attachment and Ego Strength: The importance of secure attachment in developing ego strength is explored. Janell discusses how secure attachment in a family setting allows individuals to feel safe, express themselves, and confidently explore the world, leading to a strong sense of self and resilience in handling failure.
4. Overcoming Negative Beliefs and Patterns: Janell encourages listeners to explore the origins of negative beliefs and how they are nurtured and reinforced over time. They draw parallels between negative thought patterns and oldies but goodies songs, suggesting the power of nostalgia in reinforcing negative beliefs. Overcoming these patterns requires acknowledging and examining them.
5. Spiritual Transformation and Union with God: The episode delves into the concept of spiritual transformation and union with God. The speaker reflects on their own spiritual journey, referencing books by Robert Mulholland and discussing the Trinity's representation of love. They emphasize the importance of ongoing conversations, learning, and seeking spiritual direction for growth and improvement.
