Today's episode tackles the tough dilemma of how to keep believing when God doesn't meet my needs. Or at least the way I feel they need to be met.
I share personal experiences about times of need in our family, particularly a really tough time when I was trusting God to meet my emotional and physical needs. In fact, I was begging Him for it but not seeing any fruit of his actual provision.
And then His tender voice of love broke through my darkness with these poignant words: What if this trial is exactly what you need?
I'm still on the same journey in many ways that I was on that stirring night when an old hymn (Great Is Thy Faithfulness) got a new meaning, and the God of the universe spoke to this beautifully broken knucklehead. My circumstances, in some ways, have gotten worse. But I keep aiming the questions at the only one who has truly promised to provide and trust that His provisions may look more like puzzles than finished products.
Even when the needs aren't met with immediate restoration or removal, He has never one day in your precious life stopped providing. It’s against his nature. He cannot deny himself. He is our great shepherd, even when we can’t understand what he is doing with his rod and staff. He is our bread of life, even when our souls are starving for relief. He is our strong tower even when we can’t see beyond the fog. Our light even while we wait in darkness. And His presence is enough.
Scriptures mentioned in this episode:
Matthew 6:25-35
