Today, I’m addressing the elephant in the communications business.
Should we be speechwriters? Should a leader rely on others to draft their remarks?
I say no way! And in this video, I’m going to tell you why. Disagree? Tell me about it.
I propose here public relations teams should research topics and give leaders detailed notes; however, an element of authenticity goes out the door when I watch somebody reading words I sense were not their own.
I realize most of our flag and general officers have people write their remarks, but how many more connections would be made in the room telling their own stories using their personal experiences?
