Sue was a primary school teacher for 10 years in Brixton, before she became a lecture. She held a variety of senior leadership roles in school - Key Stage co-ordinator/Assistant Head/SENCO and Acting Headteacher. In 2003, Sue returned to Swansea and became part of lecturing teams for Teacher Training in Swansea initially working on Primary BAEd and PGCE courses. This was followed by work on the Teach First Programme, Graduate Teaching Programme, and PCET courses for Further & Higher Education. Since 2017, she has been responsible for Professional Learning programmes for teachers and educators, mainly focussed on leadership and ALN (SPMLD), whilst supporting students on Masters' courses.
Sue is a passionate educator committed to developing the same enthusiasm in others. Reflection on our current education system has inspired her to engage in promoting and challenging issues affecting the BAME community both for teachers and students. She believes education is a powerful tool for change for both the individual and society it exposes us all to possibilities and opportunities to be our better selves.
