Andrei Chikatilo aka, “The Butcher of Rostov” or “The Red Ripper” was one of the most prolific killers in the Ukraine. Between 1978 to 1990 he murdered at least 53 young women and children who he lured into the woods, raping his victims before he ate their sexual organs, as well as removing other body parts like their nose and eyes. After twelve years of slipping through the authorities’ fingers on multiply occasions, Chikatilo was arrested in 1990 and executed for his crimes in 1994.
