Have you found yourself in this place? Do you think you’re more of a cheerleader or do you tend to think of women as a threat especially if they’re in the same field of work as you?

I think this is where the saying “with age comes wisdom” is really appropriate for me. God has definitely done a good work in me on this one. It’s not always easy to admit your shortcomings, but here we go.

I used to have a very competitive, insecure, jealous nature. Little did I know it all had to do with my OWN insecurities that caused me to be this way. I was so insecure in my own skin, in my own talents, and in my own abilities that I used to see other women as a threat. I felt threatened if they were prettier than me, more talented than me in a sport or activity, or if they had more education than me. It made me feel inadequate. Not enough. Not worthy. It all sounds awful, doesn’t it? I was good at being passive aggressive and cutting to the core in a way that seemed like I was kidding. When I look back, it’s so ugly and offensive and childish but that insecure little girl in me didn't know how to cheer others on because I viewed them as my competition that I must conquer and defeat. I believed there wasn’t enough room for the both of us.

I’m inviting you to go into a deep dive with me and ask yourself honestly where you are in this area of your life. I’m going to share with you ways that I was able to overcome the “threat” syndrome. I’ll also give you some action steps that you can utilize to help you be a better friend, encourager, cheerleader, and friend. Let’s get vulnerable together and BE THE CHANGE this world needs!

Love y’all! xoxo
