Welcome to another episode of "Parenting is Easy Said No one Ever". In this episode, we have a special guest, Meredith Goodwin - an advanced certified hospice and family nurse practitioner. Living in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, dog, and soon to arrive baby, she also hosts a children's podcast called Open Window Stories.
In today's discussion, we delve into topics such as losing a child and being in the healthcare world while parenting. A major focus of our conversation revolves around relocation within families. We explore how moving frequently impacts family dynamics through Meredith's personal experiences.
Meredith shares her journey from meeting her husband at the University of Minnesota to moving cross-country for his fellowships amidst the pandemic while raising their daughter. She provides insights on how these relocations affected their young daughter differently at each stage of development.
We discuss coping mechanisms used during these moves including storytelling and reading books about relocating. Despite challenges like leaving friends behind or adjusting to new environments without familiar faces nearby, she emphasizes that every move has its unique experiences which ultimately contribute to growth.
Stay tuned as we continue exploring more aspects of parenting in future episodes!
