Charan Ranganath: Memory Expert| How To Remember What Matters
Manage episode 431319091 series 3305836
Do you easily forget people's names, where you left your keys, or parked your car?
Joining Sarah Grynberg this week is Charan Ranganath, the director of the Dynamic Memory Lab at the University of California and a professor at the Centre for Neuroscience and Department of Psychology.
Dr Ranganath studies memory mechanisms in the brain, from those that recall faces and names, to those that help us learn, choose and heal, and he is the author of Why we remember. In this fascinating conversation Dr Ranganath and Sarah discuss why people remember some things and not others, how the brain remembers, things we can do to improve our memory, whether US president Joe Biden really is cognitively impaired, strategies to help you remember where your car is, the affects of menopause and pregnancy on the brain, and the best ways to remember things when you do have that ‘baby brain.’
If you would like to be better at remembering to do little jobs day-to-day, and improve forgetfulness, especially as you age, then this episode will show you that no matter how your brain is wired, you can take control of your mind and be inspired to make the most of every minute of the day.
