We get a patient’s perspective on healthcare from Beth Stevens in this episode of the Perspectives on Healthcare Podcast with Rob Oliver. Beth is from Indiana, Pennsylvania. She joined me for the Guinness World Record Setting patient interview marathon. I interviewed her husband Greg in episode 188. Beth has had a unique journey when it comes to healthcare. She dealt with severe allergies as a child and now, as an adult, deals with narcolepsy, PCOS and sleep apnea. This is interview 66 in the marathon.

Here are 3 things that stood out as Beth Stevens shared a patient’s perspective on healthcare:

  • Healthcare Heroes are people that save lives. In Beth’s experience, a pharmacist saved her life by identifying a potentially dangerous medication issue.
  • It is extremely important to feel comfortable with your medical provider. Medical providers should strive to build rapport and a feeling of familiarity.
  • Medical providers need to remember that patients are not all highly educated in the field of healthcare. They need to communicate simply and clearly without the use of medical jargon.

Rob Oliver is “Your Keynote Speaker”, addressing quality healthcare, resilience and excellence in adversity. To book Rob Oliver as a speaker at your next event visit:
