The story of Hagar is a messy one. Juxtaposed between two pivotal covenant moments between God and Abram we find Hagar, a poor slave girl in Genesis 16. Through no fault of her own, she's caught up in the sin of Abram and Sarai, uncovering profound truths about God's character and our own faith journeys. We see how God intervenes in the messy situations of our lives, revealing Himself as El Roi - the God who sees us. This narrative challenges us to confront our tendency to run from our problems and instead submit to God's guidance. We're reminded that no matter how lowly or insignificant we may feel, God sees us, hears us, and desires to work in our lives. It's time to stop hiding behind our masks and allow ourselves to be truly seen by God, even when His direction may not be what we initially want to hear.
