The legal warriors of Future Space Court continue to argue the merits of “Caretaker” as an effective pilot episode. The Voices from the Past struggle to ignore the cracks as the episode’s pacing falls apart, Janeway shoots the Prime Directive right out the airlock, and Paris is revealed to be inexplicably insensitive to Chakotay’s ethnocultural background.
