Films from the Basement has returned with its next installment featuring the film Soft Matter. It’s an indie sci-fi horror film that touts itself as “Get Out Meets the Shape of Water.” You’ll have to listen to the podcast to see how Soft Matter is unlike either of those two films. Even though Seth warns you to stay away, Alex and I have ourselves a good laugh at a few of the scenes and discuss what made the film a little bit fun at times.

R.I.P. to both Mr. Sacks and Haircut’s turtle we only got a few minutes of screen-time from you, but it was legendary. Mr. Sacks, you were stupendous in your full body condom made from black garbage bags and duct tape. Who knew that someone of your size covered in goo and plastic could move like an angel sent from above. With such fresh kicks, no dance contest could contain you; if only your slime filled body wasn’t so easy to take down.

R.I.P. You Beautiful Bastard

Also in this episode, Seth regales Alex with a history of Tiger Beat and what it was like to be a teen before the internet. His wall could only contain so many boyband posters.

Let us know what you think, or even what films should get the Films from the Basement treatment.

Also, a big basement shout-out to Eric Hutchinson for giving us permission to use a clip of his song “The Basement” as our intro. Be sure to check out his site erichutchinson.com and his various social media hot-spots for all his news and music.
