Bethany Lacina is an associate professor of political science at the University of Rochester and life long star wars fan. Her recent article in the Washington Post titled “Who hates Star Wars for its newfound diversity? Here are the numbers” that analysed 1000's of Star Wars fan tweets quickly became the talk of Star Wars fandom.
We look at the process of Bethany's work and what insight can be gained from it, and discuss its effect on the Star Wars brand and how Lucasfilm has handled the issue of toxic fandom.
Plus we talk childhood Star Wars misconceptions and weigh up the pros and cons of how the story of the Sequel Trilogy has come together.
