In this episode of Pain Reframed, Liz and Adam interview Robert North, MD, PhD regarding a study published in Brain, "Electrophysiological and transcriptomic correlates of neuropathic pain in human dorsal root ganglion neurons." This study provides important foundational evidence for spontaneous firing observed in dorsal root ganglia from symptomatic dermatomes, and sets the stage for future investigations which may lead to novel clinical treatments for peripheral neuropathic pain. North is Chief Neurosurgery resident at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX) and its affiliated hospitals, including MD Anderson Cancer Center.
