At that time, I was feeling completely defeated after my script was rejected from the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. I wrote, "I keep praying for a miracle - but it never comes." But here's the incredible part - just 16 months after writing that journal entry, not only had I made my film, but it was accepted into the Sundance Film Festival where it went on to win two awards! In this episode, I dive into what created that "miracle": perseverance, keeping faith, and most importantly - taking control of your own destiny as a screenwriter. Waiting for permission or for someone else to choose your script isn't the only path forward. Sometimes you have to become the person who makes it happen. The Upper Limit Problem is an idea that comes from a book called THE BIG LEAP by Gaye Hendricks. Essentially it's the idea that we all have an inner thermostat for how much good things we can have in our lives (ie how much abundance, how much success, how much love) and that when we go beyond that level, we sabotage to bring ourselves back to our original setting.
