Mental health has been downplayed into an innocent persona, something desired to look “cool”. This misinterpretation is not only shown on social media, but also in many TV shows and movies. It creates negative stereotypes for instance, people with depression always seem sad or people with eating disorders are always underweight, this can lead to a host of potentially dangerous problems for individuals actually struggling with symptoms and their loved ones.
