Mats Larsson has spent the past 18 years exploring the amount of resources that will be needed to change transport systems to electric vehicles on a large scale. He has come to the conclusion that very large investments will be needed in power generation, grid capacity, charging infrastructure, and not least in the training of individuals to take on the various roles that will be needed through the transformation. Entirely new roles as electromobility strategists and architects will become necessary, but large numbers of electricians, and workers in charging infrastructure production and other areas will be needed as well. The EU, the UK government, and air regulators in California have decided to ban the sales of new fossil fuel cars from 2035, but the investments that will be necessary to go through with these decisions will be so large that it is hardly conceivable how it can be done…
