In this episode, my guest, Marshall Burtcher, and I discuss the key elements of safety and how it's the foundation of healing and growth. We cover everything from the importance of acknowledging protective parts to mastering the fight, flee, freeze, and fawn responses.

We also discuss cultivating internal awareness and its role in developing more intimate, interdependent relationships. We discuss the impact of codependency and trauma and how accepting and loving every part of you is necessary for everyone.

Join me as Marshall shares his experiences and journey towards safety, connection, and value identity.
Here is what NOT to miss:
[00:02:02] Marshall's journey from a dysfunctional family unit and a religious culture and how he broke free.

[00:09:57] To understand why safety is crucial for personal growth and healing, as our body's instinctual responses (fight, flee, freeze, fawn) are subconscious.

[00:13:46] Slowing down and connecting with ourselves helps counter the internal shaming that often undermines our trust in ourselves.

[00:17:57] The impacts of trauma on relationships and the importance of using tools to address it with the help of others.

[00:24:48] Why real love is not transactional and involves valuing one's sense of worth unconditionally.

[00:34:36] Doing the internal work to fully accept all parts of ourselves can feel hard; it truly leads us back to joy.

[00:38:46] Internal safety and community support are crucial for self-creation and navigating emotional experiences.

[00:41:44] Why creating boundaries based on values and principles is important.

[00:45:55] Overcoming fear and productivity guilt by showing love and compassion towards oneself aids transformation.
Marshall Burtcher is a Codependency Healing Expert who serves people-pleasers, perfectionists, and codependents. He helps them stop fixing themselves and start loving who they are so they can create and enjoy a loving, fulfilling life. He started this work in 2012 after discovering how to heal codependency permanently after 30 years of struggle. Today he teaches others how to free themselves from the grip of "fixing" and codependency and discover loving relationships, purpose, and peace in life.
