This week on Beauty Bytes with Dr. Kay: Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon, we talk about probiotics and how they're beneficial for your skin. Probiotics are microorganisms that are similar to the naturally occurring bacteria in your gut. They act as a protective shield against bad bacteria, preventing inflammation and premature aging of the skin. Dr. Kay discusses how probiotics can help deal with a variety of skin conditions such as acne, rashes, eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis. By incorporating more probiotic strains in our diets and in our skincare, we help make lasting effects on our skin. Probiotics reduce visible signs of aging, improve the level of hydration in the skin, and prevent breakouts by reducing skin sensitivity. Yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, and kombucha are great to have on a daily basis, while also taking probiotic pills.
