Much like the Barrett brothers themselves, this brown ale is smooth, sophisticated and well-rounded. Brewing with copious amounts of English brown malt and then lightly-hopped with traditional English hops allows this Ale to be very approachable and drinkable. With hints of chocolate and just enough earthy spice, this is the intelligent choice for the sophisticated beer drinker.
Beer #1: Barrett Brothers Brown Ale
Style: American Brown Ale
ABV: 5.4%

Beer #2: Hanley’s Porter
Style: Porter
ABV: 6%
IBU: 70
Flavor Text: This is from a recipe bought in Dublin, Ireland in 1860 for £500 – a fortune in those days. George Johnson of Ogdensburg, NY brewed it in 1868 and sold the recipe (for a lot less!) to James Hanley of Providence, RI.
In 1860 Guinness was by far the biggest porter brewery in Dublin and getting hold of their recipe would have been expensive, since it must have been done without Guinness’ knowledge. There is no evidence that it was from Guinness and there were other Dublin porter brewers at the time. But £500 in 1860??
Our brew had OG 15ºP, 6.0% ABV, 70 IBU (English Challenger hops – they didn’t grow hops in Ireland!). Black malt was the only roast malt produced at that time so we use only pale and black in our brewing with a few additional secret ingredients.

Beer #3: “Diner Time” Stout
Style: Stout
ABV: 5.5%
IBU: 20
Flavor Text: This coffee stout is a tribute to all those late night diner runs after the latest great night out! Named in memory off the late, great Bridgeport Flyer diner on Bridgeport Ave. in Milford. We toast you and all diners like you that took in our tired, our hungry, and our slightly inebriated. “Diner Time” coffee stout has just the right mix of the great old time stout favor and eye opening coffee. Gently hopped and painstaking aged, we give you a balanced approach to the style. A blend of malt and coffee in the aroma gives way to hints of black malt that poke throw as you sip, then the coffee flavor brings you home like diner coffee. Now you’re awake and ready after a couple of pints of this delicious stout! I still can hear my friends in the back seat urging me, “Dude come on! It’s Diner Time.”
