📚 Book Review by Omar Nizam:
Some twenty years after his retirement from international cricket, @wasimakramliveofficial (in collaboration with Sports Journalist @gideon_haigh ) comes out with a tell-all book that feels like an unplayable stump rattling yorker.
Akram is undoubtedly one of the greatest to have ever played the game. But his poor treatment at the hands of the Pakistani cricket establishment and some sections of the cricket watching public have finally culminated in a story written at the behest of his wife @iamshaniera that will both shock and amaze even the most ardent cricket fan.
Intrigue follows counter intrigue as the Pakistan cricket team is consistently portrayed as a den of thieves rather than as a unified, coherent unit.
At the end of the book, the die-hard Pakistani cricket fan can only be left wondering at just how much more scarily successful the team MIGHT have been if not for continually falling on it's own sword.
The book deserves nothing short of full marks - four for the writing and one for the unsung hero Shaniera Akram - without whom this maelstrom of a story would have remained reticent and never seen the light of day.
My rating: 5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
