A book written with what can only be described as wide-eyed CURIOSITY, Bangladesh-born Dutch author Amit Biswas's "Logo Land" is a story about the origins of the 352 logos that adorn the 352 municipalities of the Netherlands.
As a recent immigrant, the distinctiveness of each and every municipality logo piqued the author's interest to investigate their meanings and origins further.
But what started out as mere curiosity led to a journey of discovery over several years, culminating in what is arguably one of the most INTRIGUING books to have been written in recent times on a very UNIQUE subject matter.
"Logo Land" is a labor of love that will be equally interesting and enthralling to Dutch, European, Art, and world historians alike. And of course, Bangladeshi historians as well.
Amit Biswas's curiosity is a trait shared by many historical personalities, including modern giants like Steve Jobs and Jennifer Doudna, and polymaths like Leonardo Da Vinci and Benjamin Franklin.
It is such unbridled curiosity coming from an "outsider perspective" for another culture that gets the reader swept up in the book. Thus, the story of "Logo Land" is as much a story about the Netherlands as it is about the author's own journey as an immigrant.
As such, it is well worth a read and deserving of full marks.
