This week, Kyrie and Cori discuss the books they selected for the thriller genre, as well as some history on what a thriller book is! During their discussion, Kyrie and Cori drink Tazo Organic Peach Green Tea. Although not usually fruit tea fans, we typically like the combination of peach and green. Maybe it needed to steep longer, but it really didn’t have the strongest of flavors. Cori added a splash of lemonade to it for a very simple version of Starbucks’s Medicineball drink.

Kyrie’s pick, Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Hayes. Kyrie picked this book based on the GoodReads reviews and thought it would be a quick, captivating, and intense book, and boy, it did not disappoint. Getting sucked into the different versions of Cathy and how dramatically her life changed after a huge event, and then holding your breath as you realize that something evil has come back to her. A great read that can give you the creeps!

Cori’s selection, Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is a science fiction thriller. Having loved the Wayward Pine Trilogy, Cori was interested in his next book. It definitely sucked Cori in with an intriguing first sentence; she managed to read it in one sitting. It almost has too much theoretical physics, but the story line kept them hooked. It is a story of time travel and how both small and big life choices could create alternate realities. At it’s heart, it is about love and finding your way back home.

Other thriller books:

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

The Likeness by Tana French (A personal favourite of Kyrie)

Before I Go To Sleep by S J Watson (A favorite of Cori’s. Click through for the Kindle bargain price of $1.99!)

Coming Up Next Week Kyrie and Cori explore the genre of horror thriller stories
Kyrie’s Pick: World War Z by Max Brooks

Cori’s Pick: Security by Gina Wholsdorf
