If you’ve listened to this podcast for any length of time, you know I’m a huge proponent of having your own website. In fact, I think it’s a must have today for any business professional. If you want to be taken seriously that is. At the very least I recommend you own your domain meaning you go purchase your first name last name dot com. Why? Because it’s important. You can listen to the BYOB episode on how to build your personal brand, for my specific reasons. In the age of the Internet, a website is a critical tool for both businesses and individuals. As an individual, a website allows you to control what people find about you online. In addition, it can serve as a one-stop-shop for all things YOU. If used properly, it can also give you a leg up on your competition. what’s interesting is The problem that most people have with starting a website is not so much the technical stuff, which I can help with by the way, but it’s really the “what” that they struggle with the most. Chances are if you’re like the majority of people I speak with about starting a blog you are probably thinking to yourself right now, “Ok. But what should I put on it?” I get asked this question a lot. People want to know what they should blog about on their own website. This might be the single biggest obstacle to getting started. And like everything else in the DICE process, the answer to the WHAT is simple but it’s not easy. If this is you rest assured I have some suggestions to get you started. So here are three high-level categories you can choose but ultimately what you decide to write about on your blog, should be aligned with Discover step and what you want to be known for.
