They say disco is out of style, but people still play the songs. People sill dance and sing along to the music, and new disco songs can be written. Disco got it’s name from being the kind of music played in the disco clubs that were called discos. Disco started in the US in the mid-1960’s, and it’s popularity rose in the mid-1970’s. When you think of disco, you might think of Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Chic, and the Bee Gees just to name a few.
Disco means a lot. It’s the kind of music that means dancing. A whole lot of dancing. All kind of dance moves and styles. I think of the instruments that were played to make up the music. Disco had the real sound of bass, beat, and strings. It is made up of parts of different musical traditions, including soul, funk, Motown, and salsa.
Disco ended but it never really ended on record players at home, on radio oldie stations, and the groups and bands that made the music happen still perform their disco hit songs in concert. Tickets are still sold. Disco music is the kind of music that will always be loved and remembered.
