Carolyn Macartney made her first film with a Double 8mm film camera that she found in her grandmother’s attic. Her award-winning work is imbued with strong characters portrayed as outsiders and non-conformists. In her latest docudrama, Wanda the Wonderful, starring Arianne Margot, Zach Rose and James McMurtry, Carolyn turns her lens on a mysterious and legendary member of her own family: her notorious, sharp-shooting grandmother.
The Catalina Film Society presents a special screening of Wanda the Wonderful on Wednesday, October 21, at the historic Overlook Hall located at 209 E Whittley Avenue in the town of Avalon on Catalina Island. The screening is a community event and admission is free with a suggested $10 donation benefitting the Catalina Island Foundation. Snacks and beverages will be provided and the show starts at 7pm. For further questions about the screening, visit OverlookHall.com.
