Louise Pentland is the Chief Business Affairs and Legal Officer at PayPal. With a strong commitment to impact and purpose, Louise helps scale innovation in partnership with policymakers, regulators, and public officials around the world. In her role as the leader of PayPal’s People function, Louise has focused her attention on building a diverse and empathetic workforce. She was integral in shaping the company’s four core values: collaboration, innovation, wellness and inclusion and helped launch PayPal’s conscious inclusion program. Under her leadership, PayPal has expanded employee resource group offerings and employee engagement opportunities, like the legal team’s international pro-bono initiative. Louise has been widely recognized for her leadership and legal expertise. The California Diversity Council named her one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology in 2017 and she was one of America’s 50 Outstanding General Counsels by the National Law Journal in 2016. Louise was also named General Counsel of the Year of a Public Company over $1 Billion category at the 2016 Bay Area Corporate Counsel Awards, presented by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times.
