The new Chair of Fianna Fáil in Clare claims they're not ruling out limiting the number of candidates that can run in a particular geographical area in the upcoming General Election. Former publican Darragh McAllister, who has previously served as Ennis Chamber President and ran for the Ennis Town Council in 2004, has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Clare branch of the party in an uncontested vote. Fianna Fáil ran three candidates in Clare in the 2020 general election with Meelick's Cathal Crowe securing a place in the Dáil, Tulla Senator Timmy Dooley losing his seat and Doonbeg Councillor Rita McInerney finding herself almost 7,000 votes shy of being elected. Ruan resident Darragh McAllister says this county's branch of the party is in the process of assessing its strategy as the election looms.
