A tender process is underway in North Clare to source sustainable transport solutions for council owned visitor attractions. Over 1 million tourists descended on the Cliffs Of Moher in 2022, while last year roughly 13% of visitors arrived on day-trip buses. A new proposal though will aim to introduce a pre-booking target of 30%, whereby visitors will be directed to park and ride services in towns and villages along popular routes. Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy is confident this can provide a major economic boost to areas that would otherwise miss out.
