What if our culture focused on self-love, self-acceptance, and trusting our bodies to do what they needed to do? What if we never felt guilt and shame around food? What would it be like to eat when you're hungry and not when you're stressed out or emotional?

When we know better, we do better. As you listen to this podcast, keep that in mind.

I have thought many times back to the food and diet culture during my childhood and teenage years. I have no doubt that living in a culture where I could learn to love myself and treat my body with kindness and respect would have made a world of difference to my mental health and physical health later on in life.

One of the most surprising things I learned from Diana is the research that tells us that kids and teens who diet are highly likely to either 1. Become obese or 2. Develop an eating disorder.

This is a fascinating interview and you will learn research-backed information that will make you think twice and question what our culture has taught us and what actually is true.

Diana is a registered and licensed dietitian and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. She is the owner of Tiny Seed Family Nutrition a nutrition counseling practice aimed at helping children and adults with a range of food issues, including selective eating, food fixations, eating disorders, and healing from chronic dieting. She is also active on social media at Anti-Diet Kids, where she helps families recognize the influences of diet culture on children and is the host of The Messy Intersection, a podcast for mothers seeking to figure out their own relationships with food and their bodies while helping their children do the same.

Diana’s mission is to help families enjoy food rather than stress over it and to understand the cultural factors that lead to food and body fears, including diet and wellness culture, weight stigma, and anti-fat bias.
