Hello! Thank you for stopping by! This is launch week for Concussion: There IS Hope, a podcast bringing support, help, and respect for concussion survivors and their families. Whether you’ve had a concussion or not, there are insidious dangers associated with concussions that all people need to know. Did you know a second concussion on top of a first can cause immediate death? It’s this kind of information you deserve to have; every family, school, and business place needs to know what we’ll share in the episodes to come. Concussions are everyone’s business, and that’s why I’m launching this podcast. I want everyone to stay safer than I have, suffering through my 10 concussions.

Today’s sneak peek is into the life of Austin Durant. Austin has been fermenting food for ten years. In 2011, he then founded what he called the Fermenters Club with a mission: to improve people’s lives by teaching them why and how to make and enjoy fermented foods and to create communities “connected through their guts.” He teaches classes (online courses and hands-on workshops) on fermented food traditions such as making sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, kombucha, miso, as well as seasonal specialties. Austin writes and shares recipes, videos and other fermentation adventures on his blog, FermentersClub.com. He fosters fermenting communities around the world, where newbies and pros alike meet to discuss and share fermented foods. Austin also produces an annual day-long festival in San Diego, comping up April 26, 2020, in Encinitas, California.

In a twist of an episode, Austin interviews the podcast host, Cindy Sue Bezas, M.S., with candid and pointed questions about the concussions that have hurt her life and upended her "normal" into chaos.

As always, seek the advice of your care provider before making any adjustments to your life after a concussion.
