So I was mulling over ideas for a new feature, and came up with this idea. Let me know what you think. A while back, I made this incredibly long winded series of forum posts detailing my experience as I played through the latest Star Ocean game. Across many painstakingly detailed forum posts, I outlined all of the increasingly bizarre plot developments while crying about my fate. I also theorized on what would happen next, and continually tried to figure out whether the plot was actually meant to be this really high concept parody of JRPGs or was just that bad.

This series of forum posts was a “huge hit”, in that one or two people found it sort of funny. So I thought, “hey, you know, we could like, make a series of really dumb casts about that! You know, we could play these JRPGs with their incredibly shitty and incomprehensible JRPG plots and talk about them in these 5-10 minute minicasts as we make our way through these grueling adventures!”

It’s certainly one way to keep yourself going, since I usually wind up ragequitting JRPG’s well before seeing how the absurd plot unravels itself. Anyway, this podcast that you are about to listen to is totally NOT that. Ha ha, I totally got you good. We might never actually do that, I don’t know, I guess we’ll see what Thez says. I do have Resonance of Fate sitting around begging me to play it and talk about it..so…you know…maybe…

As for the actual cast you are about to listen to, be prepared for extensive discussion on 2010′s game of the year after Deadly Premonition, Civilization 5. Listen with bated breath as I recount the history of my American empire and how I toppled the unruly Romans. What will happen with the encroaching Greek Empire?! Tune in to find out.

Also, Thez muses about his experience reading old Flash comics, in which Captain Boomerang ties the Flash to a giant boomerang and attempts to launch him into the Moon.

This week’s topics include dream arcade collections, and crazy theoretical sequels to existing franchises. We also have our typical arbitrary video game trivia, Xbox Live Indie Game Treasure Hunt, and a very special episode of NEIN NEIN NEIN. You’ll have to hear this one to believe it, folks.

Also, we are joined by Hywel, whose hilariousness almost makes up for (or simply adds to the value of, depending on your perspective) the shitty quality of his connection. There is a bunch of other stuff too, but unfortunately we decided to hold off on fruit tier discussion.

Sorry, friendos.
