The Neuroscience of Sugar: How Sweet Treats Affect Our Brains-Dr Amy Reichelt
Dr. Amy Reichelt (PhD, BSc) is a neuroscientist, nutritionist, psychologist, speaker, and author with over a decade of experience in neuroscience research across the UK, Canada, and Australia. Her research focuses on how modern ultra-processed diets—high in refined sugars and saturated fats—affect various aspects of brain function, including memory, decision-making, and mood. She also examines how these diets pose a particular risk of lasting damage to the teenage brain.

Dr. Reichelt has appeared on numerous media platforms, including TV (such as ABC’s The Science of Drugs as a sugar expert), national radio, and podcasts. Her TEDxSydney talk, “This is Your Brain on Sugar,” has been viewed over 500,000 times.
