Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Seal has never expressly stated why he wrote the song, but he does say that the feeling of the song is more important than the actual words. What is the grey? Is this about a cocaine problem? Is it about crossing over to the afterlife? Is it about interracial butt stuff? According to Seal, yes to all three.
