As if being the Director of Communication for the ACLU of Virginia isn’t enough, Edith always makes “giving back” a priority. She actually makes being charitable look easy and the rest of us look down-right lazy. For her, giving back is a selfish act, since as she puts it, she gets back more than she puts in. So, where does she choose to spend her “free time?” Well it’s with organizations like, Village Med where she helps Haitians in distressed areas get access to the pediatric healthcare they so desperately need. And when she feeling less ambitious, she’s fighting for equal opportunity for the women of the world. No really, she’s actively involved in Change International—a humanitarian organization that has empowered over 250,000 vulnerable women and children in 30 countries across North and South America, Africa and Europe. And for her homeward board efforts, Edith she serves on the board of directors of Carpenter’s Shelter—a shelter serving more than 784 homeless and formerly homeless people in Northern Virginia. And if that’s not enough, for many years, she has been involved with Food and Friends—an organization with a mission of delivering nutritious meals to those battling serious illnesses in the DC/Virginia/Maryland area. Wow. Just wow. So, if you’re feeling inspired as much as we are by this amazing woman, please volunteer at an organization that brings good into the world, fights for justice for all and helps our fellow man. You never know, you too might just earn your superhero brightly-colored bodysuit, just like Edith!
