I denne uge taler vi med lektor Niels Aage fra DTU Mekanik, der sammen med sine kolleger har arbejdet med at optimere designet af en flyvinge fra en Boeing 777.

Eller rettere: de har udviklet nye metoder og algoritmer til at optimere designet af mange slags objekter, så de bruger mindre materiale, men har den samme styrke og stabilitet.

De nye designs minder i øvrigt meget om naturens egne flyvere, der gennem evolution jo også har fået optimeret deres design med lav vægt og stor styrke.
